OpenToVote.org collects nothing.
No accounts, no cookies, no analytics, no forms, and no server that ever receives your photo. Everything below is just that sentence, said carefully — including what it does and doesn’t cover once you follow a link off this site.

Privacy
Open to Vote is an independent, nonpartisan civic project created and operated by HoneyWired in collaboration with Vote.org. On this page, “we” means HoneyWired, and every promise below is about OpenToVote.org — not about Vote.org, whose own policy governs its own site.
When you add the badge, your photo is opened and composited by your own browser, on your own device. The finished image is saved straight to your downloads. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tool still works exactly the same.
Because of that, we hold no personal data about you. There is nothing for us to share, sell, hand over, or lose in a breach. OpenToVote.org sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Links to Vote.org are a different matter. OpenToVote.org does not upload or store your photo and does not require an account. If you follow a link to Vote.org, you leave OpenToVote.org, and Vote.org’s privacy policy applies to your use of Vote.org’s services. We don’t speak for that site, and nothing on this page limits what it may collect.
If this ever changes—for example if we add privacy-respecting traffic measurement—this page will say so, and it will say what is measured.
Terms
Open to Vote is free to use and provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We can’t promise it works on every device or browser, and we don’t control LinkedIn. Their upload flow can change without notice.
Your photo stays yours. You keep every right in it that you had before. We never receive a copy, so there is nothing for us to claim, license, or use.
Please don’t use the badge in a way that implies Open to Vote endorses a political party, a candidate, or a ballot measure. It doesn’t, and it never will.
Open to Vote is created and operated by HoneyWired in collaboration with Vote.org. It has no affiliation with LinkedIn Corporation.
Nothing on this site is legal or voting advice. Confirm registration rules and deadlines with your state or local election office.
Links to other organizations
Open to Vote links out to voter registration services so you can check your own status. Vote.org, the collaborator on this project, is one of them. Links to any other organization are there for your convenience only—not endorsements, and no partnership or affiliation is implied in either direction.
We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability. Once you follow a link you are on their site, under their terms and their privacy policy, not ours.
The Vote.org name and logo appear here with Vote.org’s permission, as the collaborator on this project. Every other organization is named only to say where a link goes, without their logo or branding; if any of them would rather we linked differently, tell us at hello@opentovote.org and we will.

You may use the badge free of charge, without asking us first. Put it on your profile photo. Share it. Encourage your team, your members, or your readers to do the same. Individuals, companies, nonprofits, schools, and membership organizations are all welcome, and no permission or license fee is required.
Two conditions:
- Don’t use it in a way that suggests Open to Vote endorses a party, a candidate, or a ballot measure. What you post alongside it is up to you.
- Don’t alter the artwork, and don’t present it as your own.
The typefaces are Archivo and Public Sans, both under the SIL Open Font License. Their licenses ship with the site.
